The City of London have now confirmed the detail of how the Late Night Levy will operate going forward.

The levy which will apply to all licensed premises which sell alcohol between midnight and 6am including on New Years Eve will be implemented on 1st October 2014.

It should be noted that no premises are exempt from the levy albeit a 30% discount will be given to premises which operate at a standard required to achieve the City of London "Safety Thirst" award.

If premises wish to avoid paying the levy then they can seek to reduce their hours, taking them under the midnight threshold, by way of submitting a minor variation application.

Premises licence holders will be able to lodge a minor variation free of charge if done so 3 months prior to the levy being implement. Yes... Before the 1st July!

If you require any further information on this matter or require advice/assistance on the lodging of a minor variation please contact one of our solicitors.
